Starting on February 26, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) will be available in a spacious new imaging suite located at Andover Medical Center (west entrance, basement level). This service is provided in collaboration with Merrimack Valley Health Services. Lawrence General also offers MRI services on site at the hospital in the South Pavilion.

The state-of-the-art MRI scanner at this new Andover location — like the unit used at Lawrence General—provides 3T wide bore advanced technology and delivers high-resolution images with exceptional anatomical detail.

Magnetic resonance imaging is used to find diseases or abnormalities in the body without using X-rays. MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the body. MRI is non-invasive, painless, and most scans require fewer than 60 minutes to complete.

Merrimack Valley Health Services is accredited by the American College of Radiology and all technologists are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
